Where to Stay

Don't want to search for accommodation yourself? No problem. We're happy to help you combine your stay with a tour and take care of everything in one place.

Your Home in the Rainforest

Bukit Lawang is a small, charming village on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park – far from large hotel chains and standardised mass tourism. That's precisely what makes it so special. Here you sleep close to nature, with the sound of the Landak River as your lullaby and the morning chorus of the jungle as your alarm clock.

Accommodation options in Bukit Lawang range from simple guesthouses to charming eco-lodges with views over the river and the rainforest. We recommend places that suit our guests' individual needs – whether travelling as a family, a couple or solo.

Our Recommendations

For our guests, we recommend the Garden Inn or Riverside Bukit Lawang as comfortable and family-friendly accommodation options right on site. The Garden Inn is in a quiet location, clean, warmly managed, and offers everything you need for a pleasant stay in Bukit Lawang. The Riverside is located nearby, has a slightly more modern design, and offers a true holiday atmosphere.

What to Know About Staying in Bukit Lawang

  • Bukit Lawang is a small village: The selection is manageable but full of charm. Book your accommodation early, especially during peak season (July–August).

  • Electricity & Wi-Fi: Most places are equipped with both, but don't rely on them for anything important – the jungle sometimes has other plans.

  • Air conditioning: Not all accommodations have AC – a fan is usually more than enough, as nights can be pleasantly cool.

  • Hot water: Most places don't offer it, but in the jungle heat, a cool shower is actually a welcome relief.

  • Safety: Bukit Lawang is a safe destination. That said, we recommend keeping valuables secure.
